IN PACIFIC WATERS

DANISH SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY. London, May 18. It is reported from Copenhagen that a scientific expedition, chiefly financed by the Carlsberg fund, is leaving Denmark at the end of June on a journey round the world. The object of the expedition is to carry out oceanographic and zoological investigations, more especially regarding the species in the Pacific.

The leader is Dr. Johannes Schmidt, who formerly carried on marine investigations and who is particularly known for his works on the migrations of the eel. The expedition, which has been planned to extend over two years, will travel in the Dana, the smallest vessel used for a voyage round the world. It will follow a route, including New Zealand, Eastern Australia, Japan, and China. Members of the expedition will lecture on Danish science, and show a Danish film.
