TURBULENT CHINA

TROOPS MASSACRED CARRIAGES PILED WITH DEAD TRAIN FROM SHANTUNG (United Press Assn.—By. Telegraph—Copyright.) Shanghai, June 26. An extraordinary tragedy was discovered at Tientsin railway station on arrival of a troop train from Shantung. The carriages were heaped with dead and dying soldiers, including White Russians ,the former bodyguard of Shantung’s Governor, Chang Chung-Chang. They were attacked by a Chinese armoured car corps en route, who were angry because their salaries were unpaid. Even the commander was not spared. The drivers declared they were unaware the massacre was occurring. The train arrived virtually a coffin on wheels. There was only a handful of survivors, attackers and attacked suffering equally.— United Service.
