TAXI WAR

CUT RATES IN AUCKLAND. (Per United Press Association ) Auckland, June 26. The taxi war inaugurated yesterday continues unabated, passengers being carried at two-thirds of the taxi meter records and less. “It appears to be a Wellington v. Auckland dispute,” said one of the parties interested, “and my prediction is that Auckland must win. It may be explained that a Wellington taxi company recently placed a large number of cars on the Auckland thoroughfares. If the present war continues,” he said, “the small man whom the larger companies have always previously endeavoured to work with, will be forced to the wall.”
