HEENEY v TUNNEY
CHAMPION’S OPINION OF CHALLENGER.
(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) New York, June 26. Tunney states, “Heeney, a rugged puncher, younger and in better condition than Dempsey, will be a more formidable opponent than the latter. I do not believe Heeney can punch as hard as Dempsey but in a fifteen round bout in which a shifting crown might depend on the decision, Heeney certainly is a more dangerous opponent than Dempsey might be.” Tunney ridiculed the idea of making him a four-to-one favourite over Heeney. “Any man who works himself to the position of foremost challenger cannot be rated a one to four opponent.”—Australian Press Association.
