DISMISSAL OF MR MALING. DEPOSIT OF £10,600 DEMANDED. (Rec. 8.15 p.m.) Sydney, June 25 The Civic Commissioners decided not to accept Mr Maling’s resignation dated June 1, but dismissed him as from the date of suspension from his position as deputymanager of the City’s Electricity Department. The Commissioners also instructed the civic authorities to demand the deposit by Mr Maling into the city funds of £10,600 which was said to have been received by him as secret commission in connection with the contract for the supply of certain plant.. The city solicitor was instructed to obtain an opinion regarding the recovery of money from the other persons concerned.—Australian Press Association. FURTHER INQUIRIES PENDING. (Rec. 9.40 p.m.) Sydney, June 25. One of the Sydney Civic Commissioners, Mr Merton, stated that a judge would be engaged for the next six months sifting Sydney civic scandals and the Civic Commissioners will ask that one Royal Commission conduct all the inquiries.—Australian Press Association.
