MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. At a meeting of the Southland Motor Association last evening, Mr. J. R. Haigh presided over a fair attendance of members. A motion by Mr. Sutton that the following remit be submitted to the South Island Motor Union’s quarterly meeting: “That the colour route plates on the main north road from Rangitata bridge northwards which are not yellow black yellow should be made so at the earliest opportunity,” was carried. A resolution was passed on the question whether the Southland Motor Association should continue to hold motor racing meetings, that a vote of the members should be taken on the question, voting papers to be in by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 25. The following motion by Mr Campbell was carried unanimously: ‘‘That with a view to preparing a report on the state of the Invercargill-Dunedin highway and ascertaining what is proposed to be done in the near future to effect improvements, a committee to make an inspection and inquiries be set up.” It was decided that two of the members confer with the traffic ihspector (Mr. E. Stopford) with a view to having the corners of the troopers’ memorial at the intersection of Dee and Tay streets, rounded as in their present state they were an inconvenience and caused motorists to make a sharp turn to proceed round the memorial. Nine new members were elected and several resignations were received. Accounts amounting to £9 11/- were passed for payment. On the occasion of the last meeting of the present executive, the chairman thanked the members for their past support.
