BISHOP OF LONDON
YOUNG AT SEVENTY. TOTAL ABSTAINER AND NONSMOKER. London, January 25. Saying he felt younger than he did twenty years ago the Bishop of London, on the eve of his 70th birthday, attributed his health and youthfulness to teetotalism, nonsmoking and regular exercise. He had not seen a doctor for five years. Declaring that he was chiefly interested in East End problems he said there was not the same grinding poverty as formerly, but youth, whom the dole was demoralising, was terribly disturbed by the effects of unemployment. He was, therefore, anxious to secure for them a man’s life in an overseas dominion. He hoped Parliament would pass the Prayer Book. Scotland and America had practised a reservation and it had not done any harm.—A. and N.Z.
