TE RANGI CLUB. THE YEAR’S WORK. The following is the annual report of the Te Rangi Bowling Club— In presenting the annual report of the Te Rangi Bowling Club for the season 1926-27, the committee has pleasure in showing a successful year. The report states, inter alia—“We regret having to report the loss the club has sustained through the death of an esteemed member, Mr E. Parker,; our sympathy goes out to his son in his sad bereavement. The club also lost the services of two valuable members through removal to other parts, Messrs E. Walker and S. E. Griffiths. It was decided at the commencement of the season to admit lady members to the club, and those who joined were very enthusiastic, taking advantage of every opportunity to play. “Club Competitions—The champion singles was won by W. Keys, with C. Barham runner-up. Mr Keys is to be congratulated for his fine performance in winning all his games. The champion doubles provided some excellent sport, but unfortunately owing to the unfavourabel weather this was not finished. The handicap doubles were also uncompleted and the committee had to rule this competition out. “Centre Competitions—The club took part in the A and B grade 4-rink championships and the inter-club games, but were unsuccessful. The club was represented in the other centre competitions as follows —Champion singles, Mr A. S. Froggatt; Mayor’s pairs, Messrs J. Peterson, T. Pryde and J. Cunningham, Rev. W. Tanner; Shield rink, J. Peterson lead, A. Anderson second, J. Soar third, T. Pryde skip. Though not successful in winning any of these, our representatives acquitted themselves well on the

Otago—Unfortunately owing to the unsuitable travelling arrangements the club was not represented in the male section, but in the game for ladies the club was represented by Mesdames Cunningham, Kingsland, Batcheler, Wedderspoon skip, who are to be congratulated for the way in which they upheld the honour of the club. “During the year visits were paid to Riverton and Otautau, and these outings were exceedingly enjoyed. Messrs J. Cunningham lead, M. McKenzie second, H. Barnett third, J. Kissell skip were successful in annexing the first prize at the Riverton Tournament. “The club commenced the year with little or no money in hand, so it was decided that in order to have sufficient funds to meet requirements the subscription be raised another 10/-.”
