Betty Nuthall at the first Internatiopal English French women’s tennis tournament at Eastbourne beat Madame Vaussard 6—3, 7—5 and with Mrs Godfree beat Madame Mathieu and Mademoiselle Deve 6—2, 6—2. England is leading by six matches to nil. In the doubles Tilden and Hunter beat Crolie Rees and Eames 6—4, 6—3, 7—5. —A. and N.Z. BETTY NUTHALL BEATEN. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, June 18. In the English—French tennis international match, Mademoiselle Deve beat Betty Nuthall 6—4, 6—2. Miss Nuthall played well but Mlle. Deve played the ball magnificently.—A. and N.Z. ENGLISH-AMERICAN TOURNAMENT. London, June 16. The English-American Tennis Tourney on Davis Cup lines is being played at Manchester. Hunter beat Higgs 7-5, 3-6, 9-7, 6-4. Tilden beat Greig 6-0, 6-0, 6-2.—A. and N.Z. AMERICA DEFEATS BRITAIN. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, June 19. In the lawn tennis match at Manchester, America beat Britain by five matches to nil. Tilden beat Higgs 6—4, 6—3, 6—2 and Hunter beat Greig 6—l, 7—5, 6—B, B—6. —A. and N.Z.
