AWE INSPIRING STORM

SEVENTY-MILE-AN-HOUR GALE IN WEST AUSTRALIA. RIVERS FLOODED AND PROPERTY DAMAGED. Perth, June 18. A gale which reached a velocity of seventy miles an hour over a considerable area accompanied by heavy rain caused considerable damage to property. A number of buildings were unroofed, hoardings and fences blown down and trees uprooted. The Swan River has risen about three feet. Ferry steamer services and country air services are suspended. Other rivers also are reported to be in flood. The storm is described as one of the worst in the history of Fremantle, where steamers had to run out extra heavy mooring lines.
