OBITUARY

MR L. F. AYSON. LATE INSPECTOR OF FISHERIES. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 17. Following on a seizure about a week ago, the death occurred rather unexpectedly to-night of Mr L. F. Ayson, late Inspector of Fisheries. The late Mr L. F. Ayson was born in Otago in 1855. He was educated at public schools and entered upon farming pursuits. At an early period he took a deep interest in fisheries and subsequently joined the Government service as curator of trout hatcheries. He made several trips to America on behalf of the Government in connection with the development of New Zealand hatcheries. He represented the Government during extensive trawling operations on the Nora Niven off the New Zealand coast and Chatham Islands.
