NAURU AGREEMENT ALTERATION URGED a NEW ZEALAND’S SUPPLIES. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, October 27. In reply to the request of the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union that the Government be urged to take aif* early opportunity of getting an alteration of the Nauru agreement to secure New Zealand a larger share of the output, the Hon. O. J. Hawken states that the question has been deferred at the request of Great Britain. A despatch from the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs stated that under the present arrangement the whole of the United Kingdom is at the disposal of Australia and New Zealand, and in the event of British consumers desiring to obtain larger supplies from Nauru and Ocean Islands care would be taken to give reasonable notice. Having regard to the. present position regarding phosphate supplies available for British manufacturers, it -was not anticipated that Britain would require any quantity from Nauru or Ocean Island for some years to come. It has been arranged for a full discussion to take place at the Imperial Conference.
