OMANA ON FIJI ISLAND. NO DAMAGE DONE. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, October 15. The secretary of the General Post Office has received the following advice to-day from the superintendent of the Auckland radio station:— “At 6 a.m. Captain Hammond, manager of the Northern Steamship Company reports the Harbour Board have advice from the Tiri lighthouse that the small coastal steamer Omana is ashore on the north-west end of Tiri Island. The vessel carries no wireless, but the Clansman, a wireless signaller ship, is standing by. The Omana is not leaking. A small steamer is being despatched with towing gear immediately. Have requested the Clansman to keep watch continuously for the time being.” Further advice received from the same source states: “At 10.25 a.m. the following was received from the Clansman: Omana is off the rocks, and is now steaming for Auckland under her own steam.”
