SYNTHETIC PETROL
FRENCH PROFESSOR’S CLAM. Paris, October 14. Lo Matin states that the secret of synthetic petrol has been discovered by Professor Audibert, Director of the National Society of Research. His method is to submit a mixture of hydrogen and carbon oxide to a pressure of 200 atmospheres and then filter it over a catalyser, thereby obtaining petrol which after distillation is suitable for use in aeroplanes and motors. It may also be converted into purified petrol for commercial oil and paraffin.—-A.. & N.Z.
