ALLEGED DESERTION
MATRIMONIAL TROUBLES. TWO MEN CHARGED. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, September 3. A charge of deserting his wife in Australia was preferred against, Abraham Alfred Gollinger, aged 36, (Mr A. Moody), in the Police Court. Constable Fisher, of New South Wales, said a warrant had been issued for the arrest of accused in Sydney. Mr Moody submitted that accused should not be sent back to Australia in view of the fact that he had a good position here. It would not be fair.
“He is charged with a criminal offence,” said Chief Detective Cummings. The Magistrate, Mr Hunt, said he would be quite willing to grant a long adjournment so that the depositions could go across to Sydney. He said he thought this might be done in future cases. In this case, however, he would make an order for accused’s return to Sydney to be dealt with by the police there.
A similar order was made in the case of Charley White, aged 23, charged with deserting his wife in Australia.
