A SERIOUS ASSAULT
TWO LADS CHARGED. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, June 15. William Charles Drury and Robert William Palmer, each aged 17* years, were charged with having committed a common assault on Frederick Fisher, aged 17, in Lichfield street. Sub-Inspector Matthew said that the two lads pulled Fisher off his bicycle, dragged him into a shop, undid a portion of his garments and painted his body with tar. The Magistrate said that the assault was of a serious nature but in consideration of defendants’ ages and the good record they would be convicted and ordered to pay wit nessee’ expenses.
