N.Z. WORKERS’ UNION

GORE BRANCH. (From Our Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Gore branch of the New Zealand Workers’ Union was held on Saturday evening, when there was a large attendance of members to discuss the agenda paper to come before the annual convention, which opens in Wellington on June 16. The district delegate for Otago and Southland was present and explained the Order Paper, clause by clause. It was reported that the result of the vote on the question of a universal ticket to operate among the New Zealand Workers’ Union, the Freezing Workers’ Union and the Southland Sawmill Workers' Union showed the majority of 1181 votes in favour of the proposal which will come into operation as from October 1, 1926. It was decided to approve of the executive’s action in deciding to give financial assistance to the British miners. A sub-committee was appointed to meet delegatee from other industrial unions for the purpose of considering the question <rf erecting a social hafl in Gone.
