SEIZURE OF SOVIET STEAMER. CHINESE COURT’S DECISION. Pekin, April 30. A Chinese military court has given its verdict in the case of the steamer Oleg. The steamer and cargo will be forfeited. The captain was sentenced to eighteen months’ imprisonment. The crew were declared innocent, and will be repatriated at the Chinese Government’s expense.—A. & N.Z.
A Shanghai message on March 17 stated: “The Soviet steamer Oleg, which recently arrived at Takt. has been seized by the Fengtien warships at Taku. A search of the ship revealed enormous quantities of rifles and ammunition, valued at about 2,500,000 dollars.”
