Moors bombarded the British cable ship Amber at Ceuta, repairing the Tangier cables, despite the hoisting of the Blue Ensign and the sounding of a hooter. Firing continued harmlessly until the Spanish gunboat Bonifaz, which was patrolling the coast, fired 40 shots at the Moors.
