MABEL BUSH
ANNUAL PICNIC AND DANCE. (From our Correspondent.) The annual picnic at Mabel Bush was held in Fiannagan Bro’s paddock on Wednesday last. The weather was unpleasant with a strong wind, but the hedge and trees provided good shelter. There was a good gathering of old and young, and all enjoyed themselves. Tea, milk, and sugar was provided on the ground. Following are the results of the main races:— Young mens’: Arnold Moylan 1. Married men: D. Ogilvie 1. Single Ladies: Miss Ogilvie 1. Married Ladies: Mrs Cristie 1, Mrs Duggan 2. Committee Race: W. Hogan 1. Boys’ Three-legged race: Cecil Moylan and J. Ogilvie 1. Girls Race: Maggie Garvey 1, Doris Moylan 2. Girls Three-legged race: M. Garvey and Smith 1. Egg and Spoon race, mens’: A. Adamson 1. Mabel Handicap: Irwin 1, W. Ogilvie 2. Couple Race: Miss Garvey and R. Stuck 1. Sack Race: Ruby Pope 1. Egg and Spoon race, Ladies: Myrtle Ogilvie 1. There were children’s races during the day, and every child received a prize. In the evening, a dance was held in the hall, and there was a large gathering, excellent music being supplied by Messrs E. Moylan (violin), S. Allott (cello), Arnold Moylan (piano), and extras by Mrs Stuck. Mr Swain was M.C. An enjoyable evening terminated at 2 a.m.
