THE IRRIGATION PROBLEM. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) CAIRO, January 26. Replying to a recent Note from Ziwar Pasha begging reconsideration of the Gezira irrigation question, with a view' to strengthening good Anglo-Egyptian relations, Lord Allenby says that Great Britain is disposed to direct the Sudan Government to give effect to the previous instructions in this connection on the understanding that an expert committee composed of a Dutch engineer (Mr Cremers, who will be chairman) and Mr M‘Gregor and Abdul Hamid Suleiman Pasha (representing Britain and Egypt respectively) would meet not later than Februray 15 to arrange a basis on which irrigation should be carried out with full consideration of Egypt’s interests and to report by June 30.
