SENSATIONAL STORY
COUNTESS IMPRISONED AS INSANE. SEQUEL IN LAW COURTS. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, January 26. (Received January 27, 8.10 p.m.) The Paris correspondent of the Daily Express reports that remarkable revelations concerning the Countess Helene de Chateaubriand, a beautiful and wealthy Frenchwoman, caused a sensation in France. The Countess states that she was seized in the street and carried off by order of her relatives to a private lunatic asylum at Malmaison. where ex-President Deschanel sent her. The head of the establishment refused to take tbe Countess, whom her relatives then took her to another asylum. When she refused to enter, seven people held her while a hypodermic needle wss inserted and she was drugged. Finally the Countess escaped. Four well-known doctors assert that she is in perfect health. A sensational sequel in the law courts is expected.
