(Before Mr G. Cruickshank, S.M.) W. P. Ryan, was charged that in July, 1924, he did damage a window at the Travellers’ Rest Hotel, Drummond, to the extent of £2 9/-. Inspector Bird prosecuted, and outlined the circumstances. Accused, who did not appear, was fined £lO, to be reduced to £5 if he paid £2 9/- damages, costs £2 17/-. J. Pulley was charged with on December 28 of exploding a bomb in the main street, Otautau. Mr Hodges, who appeared for defendant, explained that he sold explosives. He had sold a bomb to a young man, who Jit it in the shop, and he (accused) had thrown it out into the street to avoid it exploding in the shop.—Case dismissed. W. R. Ireland.—The Magistrate, after inspecting the lorry, gave his decision in this case, which was heard at Riverton, dismissing it. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following cases: B. Angelo v T. F. Scott, for £9, costs £2 9/6; H. A. Holmes v.J. Sheehan, for £2 15/-, costs £1 3/6; Commissioner of Taxes v W. Munro, for £1 16/7, costs £2 3/-. Nightcaps Industrial Co-operative Society v T. Taylor. Defendant was ordered to pay £2 on February 6, and £2 thereafter fortnightly.
