DAIRY CONTROL.

To the Editor. Sir, I understand that the members of the Dairy Control Board are meeting in Wellington on 28th inst., to decide whether they will or will not take drastic action to ’ prevent butter aud cheese being sold f.o.b. 1 New Zealand. I also understand that practically all the North Island representatives are in favour of a consigning policy. Do our Southland dairy directors realise just what this means? Do they realise that the Board has power to decide this question on Wednesday next and forthwith to issue an edict which may seriously endanger the whole dairying industry. Think what the prevention of f.o.b. selling may mean —the whole of the dairy produce of New Zealand going to the Old Country on consignment to be handled by Tooley Street firms who will have no particular interests at stake. What could they j not do if they put their heads together I It will practically eliminate competition, which is the life of trade. If such a proI posal was suggested to the wool growers, j imagine the result, and yet such a proposal is actually contemplated by the Dairy Con- ' trol Board. It behoves every dairy director to ■ get busy and to do his utmost to see that Southland is not pledged to this scheme i before it is too late.—l am, etc. DAIRY FARMER.
