SOUTHLAND ASSOCIATION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. MEETING. A meeting of the Southland Lawn Tennis Association management committee was held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms last evening, the President (Mr C. S. Longuet) presiding over an attendance consisting of Messrs C. Richards, A. R. Smart, F. Bray and W. Brandford. CORRESPONDENCE. The secretary of the Otago Tennis Association wrote stating that the end of February would be suitable for his Association to play the annual Interprovincial match. The date would be . definitely fixed at a meeting to be held at the end of January.—The letter was received. The secretary of the South Otago Association, Balclutha wrote regretting his Association’s team would be unable to accept the Southland Association’s invitation to visit Invercargill. He invited a Southland team to visit Balclutha.— The letter was received, the question of sending a team to Balclutha being left to the match committee. The secretary of the Eastern District Association wrote inviting the Southland Association to arrange matches between Gore and Invercargill teams and suggesting February 4 as a suitable date for the first match.—The matter was also left in the hands of the match committee. The secretary of the Invercargill Tennis Club wrote asking the Association to con tribute £B/8/- towards the use of the Invercargill Courts' for the Christmas Tournament owing to the expense the club were to be put to in connection with the new Pavilion.—The question was held over for discussion at a fuller meeting. GENERAL BUSINESS. The Selection committee was granted authority to select the Southland representative team. Mr Smart moved a hearty vote of thanks for the handicapping committee in the Christmas Tournament. The handicapping was very successful and a great deal of work had been done. Mr Richards seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. THE COMPETITIONS, SECOND ROUND. After the meeting closed the match committee arranged the following syllabus for the remainder of the season:— SATURDAY. —A. Grade.— January 31: Gladstone v. In vercargill. at Invercargill; Winton v. Central at Winton. February 14: Gadstone v. Winton at Gladstone; Invercargill v. Central at Central. February 28: Gladstone v. Central at Gladstone; Winton v. Invercargill at Winton. z —B. Grade.— January 31: Southend No. 2 v. Waihopai No. 1 at Waihopai; Waihopai No. 2 v. Central at Central; Invercargill v. Southend No. 1 at Southend. February 14: Waihopai No. 1 v. Central at Waihopai; Waihopai No. 2 v. Southend No. 1 at Southend: Southend No. 2 v. Invercargill at Invercargill. February 28: Southend No. 2. v. Central at Central; Waihopai No. 1 v. Southend No. 1 at Waihopai; Invercargill v. Waihopai No. 2 at Invercargill. March 14: Central v. Southend No.l at Central; Waihopai No. 1 v. Invercargill at Waihopai; Waihopai No. 2 v.
