BLUFF HARBOUR

RETURNS FOR YEAR. ALL-ROUND INCREASES. A preliminary statement of the revenue for the year 1924 was presented at yesterday’s meeting of the Bluff Harbour Board. The revenue for the year amounted tn £40,365 13/3, which, eliminating the cool store figures, represents an increase of £2467 3/6. The shipping returns show that during last year 433 vessels of a total tonnage of 426,672 tons berthed at Bluff wharf, an increase of 66 vessels and 23,214 tons. The Harbourmaster’s report on the number of overseas vessels which visited the port during 1924 showed that all previous records for overseas shipping at Bluff were beaten, a total of 50 vessels of a total tonnage of 235,838 tons berthing at the port. This is an increase of three vessels and an increased tonnage of 8472 tons. “Very satisfactory,” remarked the Chairman when the preliminary statement of revenue was received.
