A BY-ELECTION
LABOUR RETAINS DUNDEE. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Reuters Telegrams.) LONDON, December 22. (Received December 23, 8.40 pan.). The first by-election since the General Election in Dundee, owing to the death of Mr E. C. Morel, resulted:— Johnson (Labour) 22,973 Sir John Simon (Liberal) .. 10,234 The election was notable for the small poll, 45,720 electors not voting. The Conservative prospective candidate withdrew in order to allow the Liberal a straightout fight. Mr Johnson claims that the election issue was solely Socialism v. Capitalism.
