THE RATING ACT
OPEi;., IN DRAINAGE DISTRICTS. (Our Parlamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, November 6. The operations of the Rating Act in drainage districts were referred to in the House of Representatives yesterday by the member for Hamilton (Mr J. A. Young). Mr Young explained that the rate was on the capital value, and some persons were paying rates on a capital value of £lOOO, where the section was not worth more than £l5O. He asked the Minister if he would take into consideration during the recess the question of legislating to permit the rate paid on the unimproved value. The Minister promised to give the matter his consideration.
