SITTING OF DEPUTIES.
AN ORATORICAL DUET. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright). (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association). PARIS, November 4. (Received November 5, 11 p.m.) The Chamber of Deputies has re-as-sembled. A heated discussion immediately arose on the question of procedure, which M. Herriot made one of confidence, securing a majority of 239. The Opposition angrily criticised the Government’s conclusion of the new Morgan loan, after condemning the original transaction, under M. Poincare’s regime. M. Herriot replied that, whereas the original advance was conditional upon no further expenditure, particularly upon the devastated regions, the renewal was unconditional. The sitting had to be suspended because two Deputies reaching the Tribune simultaneously refused to withdraw, and insisted upon giving an oratorical duet, M. Herriot has tabled a drastic Bill imposing penalties for excessive food prices.
