TO CONTROL GERMANY
ALLIED MILITARY INSPECTION. CARRYING OUT THE TASK. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) PARIS, July 10. The Ambassadors’ Conference has addressed a Note to Germany noting with satisfaction German acquiescence to the proposed general military inspection, and stating that, providing Germany co-oper-ates, the Control Commission will do its utmost to conclude operations by September 30, although a definite date of termination to its labours cannot at present be fixed. The Note points out that the Allies adhere to the claim for the execution of five other demands which the German reply does not mention. It adds that the Commission will resume its final operations on July 20, carrying out the same in the spirit already indicated. The five points on which the Allies especially insist are:— (1) That the German police forces must be put on such a footing that they cannot be used for military purposes; (2) that munition factories must be transformed and rendered incapable of producing war material; (3) that excess war material must be handed over; (4) that documents showing the war material existing at the date of the Armistice and indicating the production during the war must be furnished; (5) that all necessary laws must be promulgated to prevent the importation or exportation of war material, and to prohibit recruiting and the organisation of an army in any sense contrary to the treaty.
