THE ALL BLACKS

RUNAWAY VICTORY MATCH AGAINST METROPOLITAN BIG SCORE PILED UP. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, July 9. (Received July 10, 1.30 a.m.) The All Blacks, defeated a Metropolitan team this afternoon by 38 points to five. Conditions for the match were ideal, there being neither wind nor sun. The All Blacks won the toss. Play was more spectacular than on Saturday, and the New Zealand forwards played with great dash and participated in several passing and dribbling rushes. M. Brownlie and Irvine were specially prominent in this connection. Dailey played a fine game behind the visiting forwards and set his backs in motion in excellent style. Nepia’s line kicking was generally excellent, but the Maori full-back indulged in several speculators. Metropolitan’s full-back, Whipp, proved a tower of strength to the home team, and he saved his side on numerous occasions. Many promising movements by the All Black rearguard were spoiled by off-sides or knocks on. The teams were as follows:—New Zealand:—Nepia; Lucas, Svenson, Hart; McGregor, Nicholls; Dailey; forwards—lrvine, McCleary; M. Brownlie, Masters, C. Crownlie; Cuppies, White; Parker. A little later the forwards gave Hart the ball and he scored in the corner. Nepia missed. All Blacks 8, Metropolitan nil. Then from a forward rush near the line Irvine scrambled over, Nepia again missjng. All Blacks 11, Metropolitan nil. The Metropolitan backs got moving, *but indecision by Louden, who replaced Morrissey, who was injured in Saturday’s game, spoiled a chance. A passing rush by the All Black backs ended in Svenson scoring. Nicholls’ kick was short. All Blacks 14, Metrepolit aan nil. From a loose scramble near the All Black line, Georgeson obtained possession, and after a tricky run in which he beat several New Zealanders, he scored. J. Walker converted. All Blacks 14, Metropolitan 5. Just on half-time, from a scrum, Cupplcs forced his way across. Nicholls failed to convert. All Blacks 17, Metropolitan 5.
