Lunn (Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department) said that inquiries showed that connections were being established, which should result in a large increase in trade. He mentioned the purchases of machinery against Continental competition, orders for rail and steel products, sales of fruit throughout Britain and numerous inquiries for dominion produce and manufactures. He viewed the Exhibition, however, more as a means of propaganda and publicity than a market for immediate sale:-.
