FOREIGN DYES

AUSTRALIAN IMPORTATIONS. In order to ensure that Australian manufacturers and users of German and other foreign dyes shall not be placed at a disadvantage as compared with competing manufacturers of dyed goods in Great Britain and elsewhere, the Federal authorities have decided to permit accredited Australian representatives of German and other dye manufacturers to import, from time to time, under license, limited stocks of such foreign dyes as are permitted to be imported into Great Britain for home consumption. • It is stated that formerly Australian manufacturers, when they found it necessary to obtain foreign dyes, could secure them only through British firms, who made a handsome profit out of the transaction.
