A GENEROUS GIFT

WANGANUI ART GALLERY BENEFITS. (Per United Frees Association.) WANGANUI, June 23. When in Wanganui some months ago, Lord Leverhulme was taken to the Sargent Gallery by Mr Louis Cohen. He was enthusiastic in praise of the beautiful building and promised a donation of pictures. To-night, Mr Cohen received a letter from Lord Leverhulme, giving particulars of pictures which are expected to arrive shortly. The gift exceeds all expectations, the value being at least £2OOO. There are six pictures in all, including two by Burne Jones, “The Fountain of Youth,” and “Thisbe,” and Sir William Richmond’s “A Greek Water Carrier.” The others are, “Curiosity,” by von Blass, “Healthy Appetite,” by Walter Denby Sadler, and “The Toast is Britain,” by Fred. Roe.
