A wireless message has been received by the American Legation from Wanshien confirming the death of Mr Hawley following a dispute’ with junkmen. The message states that the Commander of the British gunboat Cockchafer, acting with commendable vigour and promptitude under threat of bombardment of the city, compelled the leading military authorities to follow Mr Hawley’s cottage afoot to the grave and also to execute two of the principal junkmen.
