OTTAWA, June 22. “Athletic heart” is often a myth accordingto the latest views promulgated at the annual Canadian Medical Association gathering. Dr John Parkinson, the London heart specialist, declared that there was no evidence to show that heavy smoking injured the heart permanently. The main causes of heart disease were rheumatic fever and syphilis. Dr Parkinson insisted that many cases of so-called disease were rally nervous symptoms.
