DEATH FROM THE AIR

PROJECTILES DIRECTED BY WIRELESS. EXPERIMENTS WITH NEW TERROR. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, June 19. The Daily Chronicle says that secret War Office experiments with aerially launched, v.-irelessly controlled projectiles are bearing important fruit. An entirely new type of aircraft, described as air torpedo boats, carry aloft torpedoes with wings which sustain planes, rudders, and elevators like those of an ordinary aeroplane. When they are fired the torpedoes glide to the earth, wirelessly steered, from the aeroplane towards their objective. The experiments suggest that squadrons of aerial torpedo craft could possibly destroy any objective, regardless of itf size, from a distance of many miles.
