THE CATTLE PLAGUE
THE OUTBREAK IN ENGLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, May 6. In the House of Commons, Mr Noel Buxton announced that 3060 cases of foot and mouth disease had been reported since August. In all, 39 English counties were affected, eleven Scottish and two Welsh, resulting in the slaughter of 103,138 head of cattle, 42,969 sheep and 47,693 pigs. The amount of compensation payable is estimated at £3,237.000.
