CONVENT SCHOOLS
BREAKING UP CEREMONY. PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. The annual ceremony of distributing prizes to the pupils of the Convent Schools was held yesterday, the Very Rev. Dean Burke presiding. At St. Catherine’s convent the wreath for amiability, loyalty and upright behaviour was awarded by the votes of the pupils to Molly Conley. In bestowing the well-earned crown the Very Rev. Dean Burke congratulated Miss Molly Conley on the honour conferred on her by her companions, an honour, he said, shared by her parents who had instilled high principles and by the school which had developed them. The Dean exhorted her to treasure the symbol of her victory, for there had been many competitors, and to cultivate in her future life the kind and helpful attitude of her school days, and above all the loyalty and strictly upright conduct, which had won her the respect and affection of her companions. Hearty and prolonged applause showed the goodwill and approval of the assembled pupils. In the Kindergarten each of the little tots, seventy in number, received a Christmas box, and in the course of the distribution sang some pretty choruses very sweetly.
