Two smartly dressed young women applied at the Hampstead Police Court for the Magistrate’s signature to their applications for assisted passages to New Zealand. The Magistrate: Do you realise you are covenanting not to marry for a year? This seems to me very serious. Do you thoroughly understand the conditions. The girls: Quite. The Magistrate: Well you ar - * going to a very nice country and I hope you will succeed.
