CONCERNING A "PRAYER"
To the Editor. Sir,-—I notice an extremely bitter effusion in your issue of May 8 by “Loyal Presbyterian.” In his letter he quotes a prayer which be wishes your reader to believe is a form of prayer used by Scotamea in Canada. Now, air, remembering how kind the Scottish people were to our soldiers when in Scotland during the great war, New Zealanders will justly resent such statements.
Scotsmen, too, generously voted Ireland Home Rule; and the Irish now have thair own members of Parliament, their own magistrates and policemen; and no one would be so unkind as to wish them a hotter time than they are now having. Seeing that "Loyal Presbyterian’s” Prayer Cap does not fit Scotsmen, might he not be induced to try it on himself, and the Brothers he is upholding, and see if it might not be a better fit? Well, now, sir, were I a loyal Presbyterian I would not betray my Church with "the kia of loyalty.”— J am. etc., "A BELIEVER IN BRITISH FAIR PLAY.”
