COUNTY ELECTIONS

THE NOMINATIONS. At noon yesterday nominations closed for the election of representatives of the Southland County Council and also for the election of representatives of the County on the Hospital Board, the Electric Power Board and the Bluff Harbour Board. In regard to the Southland Hospital Board no election will be necessary as the required number (seven) has been obtained. No election will be held in the Winton and Waikaia ridings, as Mr W. M. Norman and Mr Colin Robertson were returned respectively unopposed. An election will be required for die other ridings of the County, the nominations received being as follows: Waihopai.—Walter Clark and Lewis A. Niederer. Awarua.—Robert Baird, John Graham and John P. Myers. Wallacetown.—T. Fraser, James McNeill and Ronald Sim. Oreti.—Archibald Stewart and George Wraytt. Hokonui.—Erskine Bowmar and James F. Grant. Mataura.—Robert N. Gardyne, Alexander McLachlan, August Reinke, John Scott and F. F. Trapski. Toi Toi.—Thomas Golden and K. G. McKenzie.
