MAIL ROBBERY
HAUL OF LEITERS. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, April 30. During Saturday night fourteen bags of registered letters and parcels were rifled at the parcels post office, Central Square. The thief was apparently aware that there was no all night staff employed on Saturday, and secreted himself in the building prior to the closing of the bags. He ripped open a number of letters. Those containing cheques were thrown aside, but it is believed that 200 others, besides a large number of registered parcels, are missing. The mail was awaiting despatch to interstate and foreign destinations. This fob lows a similar occurrence in February, when twenty-five bags were rifled.
