TOWN COUNCIL

ROUTINE BUSINESS. The fortnightly meeting of the Invercargill Borough Council was held last night. Present:—The Mayor (Mr J. F. Lillicrap) and Councillors A. H. Mackrell, J. G. Macdonald, A. H, Clark, A. Glass, F. W. Preddy, T D. Ijennie, P. Meek, A. M. Macalister, E. Sheehan and W. H. Boyes. CORRESPONDENCE. W. Curran wrote stating that if certain minor details were adjusted he was willing to pay his share towards projecting the Eastern embankment.—Referred to the Finance Committee. In response to a request for the donation of a strip of his land near the Waihopai Reserve, W. A. Archer wrote stating that the Council could have the land required for £loo.—The offer was declined. The President of the Plunket Society, Mrr E. M. Pearce, requested permission to hold a street day on March 16 to obtain funds for the society—The application was granted. The Palmerston North Borough Council wrote asking for particulars of the Electrical Department.—lnformation to be supplied.
