WELLINGTON THEFT

MOTOR AND GOODS VANISH. (Per United Press Association). WELLINGTON, February 20. On Sunday evening the secretary of the Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Company received a telephone message that his motor which he left at the factory had been borrowed and would be found at Island Bay. How or where the message came from could not be ascertained. Upon investigation being made by the police, it was found that the motor and also two rolls of navy blue worsted cloth and eight parcels of silk were missing. The burglary was one of the most daring nature as it was perpetrated in daylight. The value of the missing material is about £l5O. Up to the present nothing has been heard of the stolen goods or the motor car. The stolen motor car was located at Island Bay. The car therefore was in the vicinity stated by the unknown informant when he telephoned the secretary. It had apparently been driven a considerable distance for the batteries were run down and an extra tin of benzine taken from the warehouse was used. The machine was towed into the city and was showing no signs of damage.
