TRAIN DISASTER

THE EPERNAY COLLISION. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association). PARIS, February 19. A disastrous railway collision occurred at Epernay, in which 15 were. killed and 30 injured Details show that a crowded Paris-Strassburg express travelling at 60 miles an hour collided with a yard engine close to the station. This was the result of delay in clearing freight cars from the main line to the switches The express engine leaped the rails, carrying the adjoining cars with it, several being wrecked. The dead include soldiers returning to Alsace and several babies. STATIONMASTER AND SIGNALMANARRESTED. PARIS, February 19. (Received February 20, 9.15 p.m.) In connection with the Paris-Nancy express collision, the stationmaster and signalman have been arrested on a charge of negligence.

There were sixteen killed and forty in jured.
