WORK AND WAGES

MILLERTON MINE IDLE. (Per United Press Association). WESTPORT, February 19. The Westport Coal Company’s Millerton mine is idle as the result of the dismissal by the mine manager of a miner who is alleged to have used improper language to the mine manager. It is stated that the company’s management was willing to reinstate the miner provided he apologised, but the miner refused to do so stating that he did not use the words complained of. The Union insisted that the miner be re instated unconditionally and as a consequence the mine is idle.
