A LUCERNE TRAGEDY
NEW ZEALAND COUPLE’S SAD END. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) GENEVA, October 6. A young married couple named Wallace, whose relatives live at Auckland, died atLucerne under tragic circumstances. The wife died as the result of food poisoning, whereupon the husband, in a fit of mania, fired a revolver shot into his dead wife’s head and then shot himself dead. FURTHER DETAILS. GENEVA, October 7. (Received October 8,5 A p.m.) The Wallaces were recently married. Mrs Wallace, who was 23 years of age. complained that she was unwell, and her husband hurried her to the best Hotel. The doctor diagnosed the case as one of food poisoning. The wife died in a few hours in terrible agony. The husband threw himself upon the body in a paroxysm of grief. Later, when left alsne, he got a revolver from his Luggage and shot himself. It is understood that Mr Wallace came from New Zealand, but his wife was an English girl.
