According to a message from North Bay, Ontario, 30 lives were lost through a forest fere, which is sweping Northern Ontario. Five towns have been destroyed, >ad thousands of people are homeless. The railways from North Bay are burdened with thousands of refugees from the burning areas in Haileyburg. Fifty to a hundred people were drowned when they were pushed off the dock while attempting to board a rescue boat. Several people were trampled to death and scores were injured when the flames swept the Catholic church, causing a panic. The whole countryside is reported to be covered with dense smoke. Electric lights were turned on at noon in Montreal. According to the latest reports more than 5000 are homeless. RAIN FALLING. NEW YORK. October 6.
