MOTOR ASSOCIATION
EXECUTIVE MEETING. The executive of the Motor Association met yesterday afternoon, the president (Mr J. F. Lillicrap) presiding over an attendance of eight. In regard to a letter from the South Island Union dealing with concessiojr’hotels, the secretary mentioned thaUire was at present engaged compiling a list of Southland hotels, and he hoped shortly to be in the position to supply each member with a complete list of concession hotels throughout the South Island. It was decided that the president and Mr C. W. Hervey (secretary of the Canterbury Automobile Association) should represent the Southland Association at the annual meeting of the Union to be held at Christchurch on May 31. The meeting decided to adopt standardised road signs as advised by the Union, but it was explained that the matter would be further considered at the annual meeting of the Union. The Town Clerk wrote, that the sign at the Park School would be erected immediately. The matter of a visit to the Riverton and Back Beach was left in the hands of the chairman. In regard to the appointment of a delegate to the conference on main highways, the secretary stated that Mr Johnston (Otago) had been previously appointed to represent the Southland Association.
